Today, I'll show a shiny technique using Perfect Pearls Powders and acetate.

Découper
l’acétate au format souhaité pour l’image
Cut out the piece of acetate to the desired size for
the image.
Imprimer
l’image à l’encre noire Archival sur l’acétate. ATTENTION : l’encre
Archival est à base d’huile et ne sèchera pas sur l’acétate, faire bien
attention en manipulant de ne pas toucher l’encre. ASTUCE : Pour une meilleure impression, déposer l’acétate
sur l’étampe encrée et appuyer partout du bout des doigts. Soulever
doucement l’acétate pour ne pas glisser et barbouiller.
Print the image on the acetate using Archival ink. CAUTION:
Archival ink is oil-based and therefore, will not dry on the acetate, so
CAREFULLY manipulate so you won’t smudge it. TIP: for a better, more even impression, place the stamp facing up
on the work surface and apply the acetate on top. Holding with one hand, press
into the inked stamp taking care not to miss any spots. Lift slowly and
carefully while holding the stamp down so that the acetate won’t slip and
smudge.
Apposer
l’acétate – côté imprimé – sur une face de la feuille adhésive. ASTUCE :
pour bien coller l’acétate sur la feuille d’adhésif sans créer de bulles
d’air, peler la première couche protectrice sans la retirer complètement,
déposer délicatement le bord supérieur de l’image (côté encre vers le
collant – c’est ce qui fixera l’encre) et, à l’aide d’un rouleau
d’acrylique, rouler doucement par-dessus la feuille protectrice (pour
éviter que le rouleau colle à l’adhésif en feuille) en abaissant l’image
jusqu’à ce que toute la surface soit bien adhérée.
Adhere the printed acetate – printed side to the
adhesive. TIP: to make sure it is
well adhered without air bubbles, peel off the top protective liner off one
side the adhesive, but not completely. Place the top edge of the acetate (ink
down – that is how the ink will be set) between the liner and the adhesive and,
using an acrylic brayer, slowly roll on top of the liner while lowering the
acetate onto the adhesive, until the entire surface is adhered.
Découper autour de l’image. Réserver le
reste de la feuille d’adhésif pour un autre projet.
Cut around the image to the desired size and save the
leftover adhesive sheet for another project.
À ce point, il est sage de tailler le
surplus et de s’assurer que l’image encollée est à la taille souhaitée avant de
poursuivre.
At this point, is you wish to cut off any excess
around the image, now is the time to do it.
Déposer
l’acétate devant soi, face vers le bas, et enlever la dernière feuille
protectrice de l’adhésif. Ne jetez pas la feuille protectrice, mais
gardez-la plutôt pour tenir le coin de votre acétate pendant que vous
travaillez.
Place the acetate on the work surface to face you, and
remove the second liner. Don’t discard the liner, rather use it to hold down
your acetate while you work.
À l’aide du
pinceau et de la poudre Perfect Pearls, « peindre » l’image. La
poudre adhérera à l’adhésif, donc faites bien attention de ne pas en
échapper partout. Prenez plutôt votre temps et appliquez de toutes petites
quantités de poudre à la fois. Pour voir les «trous» et assurer qu’il y a
de la couleur partout, retourner de temps à autre l’acétate pour regarder
le motif. Ce sera translucide. Attention de ne pas déposer la face
encollée!
Using the fine tip brush, start « painting »
the image. You will be putting the powders over the adhesive, which is how they
will be set. Be careful to take small quantities at a time and not moving too
fast to avoid dropping powder all over your adhesive sheet. To see how your
work is coming along, you can turn thee acetate over to look (don’t put it down
on the adhesive though ;-)) The color will be translucent.

Il
est important de bien couvrir toute la surface collante. C’est normal que le
dessin soit flou et « barbouillé ». Retournez l’acétate pour voir le
résultat final :
It is important to cover all the adhesive well with
the powders. It is normal that the drawing seems unclear and “smudged”. To see
the final result, turn it over.
La
photo ne rend pas justice à cette technique. L’effet de l’acétate combiné à aux
poudres irisées Perfect Pearls est vraiment de toute beauté. Maintenant, il ne
reste plus qu’à réaliser votre montage de carte et le tour est joué! Étant
donné que l’adhésif est entièrement recouvert de poudre, il ne collera plus. Il
suffit d’utiliser votre ruban double face transparent habituel ou une deuxième
couche de feuille collante double face par-dessus la poudre.
The photo doesn’t do this technique justice. The
effect of iridescent powders behind acetate is stunning. Now, all that is left
to do is mount the image on a card. No need to decorate a lot, the image is the
real star, here. Because the adhesive is completely covered in Perfect Pearl Powders, it no longer sticks. Just use
your regular double-sided tape to affix it to a card front, or add another layer
of the sheet adhesive, over the powders.
