It's been a while since I've pulled out my texture pastes and gesso so I thought it would be fun to make a grungy mixed media Christmas card for you today.

I used a large tag and adhered rice paper to it using some matt medium as a glue. I painted over the image on the rice paper with some gesso and wiped the excess off to give a dull muted effect. I stamped a Christmas script in blue randomly over the tag then stenciled the stars using light modeling paste. When the paste was dry I stenciled the Christmas Ornament again in the light modeling paste. Light modeling paste when it dries can be coloured with watercolour paints. I used Finetec metallic paints for the ornament and the stars. I stamped the holly sprig and coloured it using Posca acrylic pens and added some glossy accent to the red berries. Before attaching the tag to the card base I used the Christmas script along the edge.

Hi Everyone, it's Christine here with a Christmas wreath decoration card.

I first taped down my card to my work surface with masking tape to create the border then sprayed the background with Nuance powders mixed with water. 

Once it was dry I stamped the image with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Platinum embossing powder. I removed as much of the colour as possible with bleach from the areas to be water coloured. I also cleaned up some of the taped edges where the water colour spray had seeped under the tape. 

I water coloured the image using Fintec pearlescent watercolours to give it a nice sparkle and used a blue gel pen to edge of the background water colour. You can't see it in the photograph but it just sparkles a little. I stamped the Season's Greetings sentiment using Versafine Clair dark blue.

Les Trésors du Mercredi avec Carole / Wenesday's Treasure with Carole

Sur un carton de papier créatif, j'ai étampé et embossé en blanc la branche de magnolia  . J'ai créé la couleur et les ombres à l'aide des marqueurs Tombow en technique aquarelle.

On creative paper cardstock, I stamped and embossed the magnolia branch in white. I created the color and shadows with Tombow markers using the watercolor technique.

Card on black cardstock - Carte sur papier noir

Hi everyone!  I’m back with another guest designer post.  For my second post, I used two Magenta stamps that were released several years ago.  They are a couple of my favourite stamps.

Je suis de retour avec un nouvel article en tant que designer invitée.  Pour mon deuxième article j'ai utilisé deux étampes Magenta qui datent de plusieurs années maintenant mais qui sont toujours parmi mes étampes préférées.

To create this card, I stamped the “Floral Tile” stamp and “Happy Birthday” stamps on two separate pieces of smooth, black cardstock with VersaMark ink.    I also used a VersaMark Pen to add small dots of ink around the “Happy Birthday” image, somewhat like the dots around the flowers on the “Floral Tile” stamp.  Next, I heat embossed the images with detail gold embossing powder.

I used Finetec Pearlescent Watercolors on the flowers and leaves of the “Floral Tile” image.  I love these watercolors and their shimmer really comes to life on dark paper.  (Since I worked on cardstock, rather than watercolor paper, I used the water very sparingly.)

After the paint dried, I trimmed the two pieces of black cardstock and adhered them to a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of gold metallic cardstock, then adhered them to a black, A2 size card. 

Pour créer cette carte, j'ai étampé les deux étampes sur deux morceaux de papier cartonné noir lisse avec de l'encre VersaMark. J'ai également utilisé un stylo VersaMark pour ajouter de petits points d'encre autour de l'image "Happy Birthday", un peu comme les points autour des fleurs sur l'étampe de fleurs. Ensuite, j'ai embossé avec de la poudre or détaillée.

J'ai utilisé "Finetec Watercolors Pearlescent" sur les fleurs et les feuilles de l'image. J'aime ces aquarelles et leur chatoiement prend vie sur un papier sombre. (Comme j'ai travaillé sur du papier cartonné, plutôt que du papier aquarelle, j'ai utilisé l'eau avec parcimonie.)

Une fois la peinture séchée, j'ai découpé les deux morceaux de papier cartonné noir et les ai collés sur un morceau de carton métallique doré de 4 "x 5 ¼", puis les ai collés sur une carte noire de format A2.
