Savvy Creations with Cassandra / Créations avisées avec Cassandra

Hello Magenta Friends! Cassandra here today sharing a muted rainbow coloured silhouette card.

I was experimenting with alcohol inks and created this unique background by adding a rainbow variety of alcohol inks onto a gessoed 4 x 6 index card and then once dry, giving it a wipe with a baby wipe. The result was this muted tone as it cuts back both the gloss and vibrancy that is often found with alcohol inks. It reminded me of dusk and the light colours of a setting sun so I went with a silhouette image.

I used a stamp positioning tool to stamp the Bird & Branch Silhouette with Black Soot Archival ink multiple times to completely fill in the colour. I repositioned and stamped the branch several more times to create the look of a shrub. Once dry, I heat emboss stamped the Carpe Diem sentiment, mounted it on a cardbase, and called it done.

On a background made with Nuance powders on watercolor cardstock as smooth as possible (I often use the back of it), I stamped several patterns and applied a stencil, rather unevenly inked. The shades of blue and green barely enhanced with colored pencil in the apple blossoms, create a somewhat mysterious and magical atmosphere that I like.

If the background is too dark, a little bleach applied with a cotton swab can rub off the petals and leaves of the apple blossoms – let dry well before coloring in with colored pencils.

Markers, white and black, bring a little contrast. Mini leaves, in the style of the large branch stamp, are drawn with a black marker.

Super Saturday with Dianne / Les Super Samedis avec Dianne

Hello everyone, Dianne here! Today I'm posting a card I made for the Magenta Card Exchange. In case you don't know about it, for a couple of years Magenta has been sponsoring a card exchange which is organized by DT member Mariëtte van Leeuwen. It's held over on Facebook at Magenta Style - Passion Studio. If you have not joined that group, you definitely should. It's a great place to share and view cards made with Magenta products.

Here's my card for this month that I got to send to someone in the Netherlands. It's really fun to participate in the card exchange. Several times I have gotten to have really interesting FaceBook Messenger conversations with crafters in other countries that I have sent cards to. One of the things that I have learned is that card-makers and paper crafters all over the world have so much in common. I have met such wonderful people who participate in this craft.

If you are interested in joining the card exchange, it will be taking a break for the Summer and should be starting back up again in the Fall. When it starts up again, Mariëtte will send out a call on the Magenta Style - Passion Studio page. I hope you'll join us!

These are the tools I used to make this card, plus the Magenta Stencil TM277. I blended Distress ink inside the stencil and stamped the Graceful Tri-Petals stamp. I colored inside the petals with Prismacolor pencils. Once I finished the coloring, I put the panel back into my stamp platform and stamped again using Versamark ink. I embossed with gold embossing powder, and then stamped the sentiment and embossed that in gold as well.

Inspirational Friday with Mariëtte / L'inspiration du vendredi avec Mariëtte

Today a masculine birthday card with just one stamp used.

I sprayed distress oxide inks onto a watercolor panel and dry embossed it with an embossing folder thru my bigshot. Used several colors of waxes on the raised areas.

Stamped the sentiment on seperate pieces of cardstock and die-cut them with a postage die set.

Hi Everyone it's Christine here with a ink spinner card and Mandala stamps. I used my ink spinner to make the background but an old salad spinner will also do the job. Here's a link to a YouTube video describing how to use the salad spinner.

I sprayed Distress oxides on the paper and set it to spin, then added another colour. You can also use inks, acrylic paints or sprays to create your background. If the ink or paint does not move easily spritz some water on it.
When it was dry I stamped the large and medium Mandala stamp in Twilight Versafine (Navy) Clair ink then the old script in Golden Meadow (yellow/green)

The steps are the same for these two cards.

The framed bird image is stamped with permanent black ink on a background of alcohol inks applied to glossy paper (Kromekote) – once dry.

The background of the card is made with the "ghost" technique, which involves stamping a bold design (not too much detail) in white pigment on white cardstock. Once dry, cover the surface with colored pigment(s) – the best inkers for this being Cat's Eyes – then wipe it off. The white pigment (well inked) remains opaque while the superimposed pigments, once wiped off, are sufficiently transparent to allow the white pattern to reappear. Hence the name ghost given to this technique.

Some patterns are added in black here and there (a good tip if there is a less well stamped place for example!). And for these patterns, everything can be pretty, delicate or bold.

Black and white cardstock and a few touches of Stardust Stickles enhance the whole thing.

Inspirational Friday with Mariëtte / L'inspiration du vendredi avec Mariëtte

Playing with the new distress ink color and some lovely Magenta stamps
.

On water colour paper I sprayed some distress stain and distress oxide ink saltwater taffy and a bit of vintage photo oxide spray and let the colors blend with some spritzes of water.  After drying I stamped with the deco pattern stamp with some bleach onto the background. Clean your stamp directly when done.

Stamped the flower with archival black directly onto the colored background and uncolored it with bleach. Than colored it in the colors I wanted. Masked of the flower and stamped the words to live by stamp around it. Did some other stamping in the background in the same color as the background. And finally added the text.
