Tranquil Tuesday with Jane/Les mardis tranquilles avec Jane

I created a decorative panel for the cover of my sketch journal. The panel measures 8" x 5 1/4".

J'ai conçu un panneau décoratif pour le couvert de mon journal de croquis. Ce panneau mesure 8" x 5 1/4".

I started with a piece of previously painted and stencilled lightweight paper. I used the Butterflies stencil to outline the images with a fine tip Micron pen.

J'ai commencé avec un morceau de papier léger préalablement peint et marqué au pochoir. J'ai utilisé le pochoir papillons pour souligner les images avec un stylo à pointe fine Micron.

I then painted 2 layers of gesso around each butterfly and across the rest of the panel to exclude the background.

J'ai ensuite peint 2 couches de gesso autour de chaque papillon et sur le reste du panneau pour exclure le fond.

Once dry, I added color back into the background by sprinkling different shades of Nuance powders and adding water with a brush to spread and blend them.

Une fois sec, j'ai rajouté de la couleur à l'arrière-plan en saupoudrant différentes couleurs de poudres Nuance et en ajoutant de l'eau avec un pinceau pour les étaler et les mélanger.

I allowed the panel to dry thoroughly before stamping the Water Drops with Carnation Red Archival Ink and the Branch with Cobalt Archival Ink. Then I added a thick coat of matte medium over both sides of the entire panel to seal it and make the paper sturdier.

I created shadows around the butterflies by smudging the ink from a Pitt Pen with my finger. It makes them appear to "float" above the page.

J'ai laissé le panneau sécher complètement avant de faire les gouttes d'eau avec de l'encre Archival rouge et d'étamper la branche avec de l'encre Cobalt Archival. Ensuite, j'ai ajouté une couche épaisse de medium mat sur les deux côtés de tout le panneau pour le sceller et rendre le papier plus solide.

J'ai créé des ombres autour des papillons en faisant frottant l'encre d'un stylo Pitt avec mon doigt. Cela les fait paraître "flotter" au-dessus de la page.

I edged the panel with the Cobalt ink pad and with a Scarlet Red Pitt Pen, smudging the ink as before to blend it into the edges. I stamped the Life Is Beautiful sentiment onto paper with Jet Black Archival Ink and gave it a coat of matte medium. I colored it with Pitt Pens in Cadmium Yellow, Orange Glaze and Scarlet Red. I attached it to the panel and outlined it with the Micron pen.

J'ai bordé le panneau avec le tampon encreur Cobalt et un stylo Scarlet Rouge Pitt, frottant l'encre comme auparavant pour adoucir dans les bords. J'ai étampé le sentiment Life Is Beautiful sur du papier avec de l'encre Jet Black Archival et lui ai appliqué une couche de medium mat. Je l'ai colorié avec des stylos Pitt en jaune cadmium, orange glaze et rouge écarlate. Je l'ai attaché au panneau et l'ai souligné avec le stylo Micron.
