Comment ne pas trouver adorable cette image de bécasseau plongeant ses
longues pattes fines dans l’eau? Je me demandais comment la mettre en valeur
quand je suis tombée sur ce carré de papier sur lequel j’avais coloré un fond
ligné d’encres à l’alcool. Les couleurs me plaisaient, mais je le trouvais un
peu foncé. Alors j’ai retourné le papier et vu que les encres étaient passées
partiellement au travers. Plus nuancé que le vrai côté, il se mariait davantage
avec le sujet. J’ai étampé l’image en bleu foncé, puis rehaussé le tout de
crayon de couleur. Finalement, le blanc du papier donne presqu’un miroitement
au paysage, comme le ferait l’eau au coucher du soleil.

dipping its long thin legs in the water? I was wondering how to highlight it
when I came across this square of paper on which I had colored a lined
background of alcohol inks. The colors pleased me, but I found it a bit dark.
So I returned the paper and saw that the inks were partially passed through.
More nuanced than the real side, it seemed a better choice with the subject. I
stamped the image in dark blue, then enhanced it with colored pencil. Finally, the
white of the paper gives almost a shimmer to the landscape, as would the water
at sunset.
