Savvy Creations with Cassandra / Créations avisées avec Cassandra

Hello Magenta Friends! Cassandra here today with a heat embossed and dry debossed mandala birthday card.

I started with a piece of Canson XL watercolour paper and loaded the Mandala 2 mask with VersaMark before running it through my Big Shot die cutting machine. Next, I covered the embossed area with clear emboss powder and heat set it. Then, I watercoloured the various design areas with Mango Tango, Turquoise and Cerulean Blue Nuance powders. While it was drying, I stamped and white heat embossed the Happy Birthday top line from the multilingual Birthday stamp in order to create the sentiment strip. I adhered it with foam tape and then added small jewels to finish off the card.

Love that effect Cassandra, did you use a Versamark ink pad or the dauber?

Thanks Christine! Glad that you like it. :)

As to your question, I used a VersaMark ink pad on that one but you could also use a dauber (I have used the Ranger's Emboss It one in the past with the same results). I have learned to load the mask/stencil on a craft mat(non=porous surface) versus a piece of paper. The mat wastes less ink as it does not absorb it; whereas, a piece of paper absorbs more of the ink.

Another tip is to treat the watercolour paper with an anti-static tool (I used an emboss bag) prior to placing the inked up mask/stencil onto the paper before running it through the die machine. This will make it easier for the excess emboss powder to slide off after adding it.
