Treats on Tuesday with Christine - La gâterie du mardi avec Christine

Hi Everyone it's Christine here, with a little distressed ink blending and some heat embossing.
I used Distress Oxide inks blended to create my background on heavy card stock. I then stamped this beautiful chickadee in Versafine Claire and the heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
I used bleach to carefully lift some of the colour, then used Gouache watercolour to paint the bird and flowers. Gouache is much more opaque than regular watercolours so the background doesn't show through.

I lifted some of the colour with a baby wipe over the stencil for a subtle colour change and then stamped the Mandala image in Distress Oxide ink on the lower edge of the card.

As is used card stock I had to be very careful using the bleach and the baby wipe, card stock will pill if you rub rather than dab off.
Here is a close up of the stamping and stencil lifting.

This could well be one of my favourites of your cards - love the bird, love the colours, love the great subtle stencilling in the background.

I love how the bird and flowers are opaque, Christine. Using gouache paints really makes it stand out ... it's beautiful. As always, your background is full of technique but still let's the main image shine.

WOW, I just had to read how you did this and thanks for describing your process! I find it hard to do an image over a background without fussy cutting. This is brilliant, particularly the stenciling and soft stamping in the lower half. Love this!
