Treats on Tuesday with Christine - - La gâterie du mardi avec Christine

Hi Everyone, it's Christine here with some more stenciled and stamped cards.
The cards use stencils and stamping to create Clean and Simple cards, I did something similar a few months ago so for these I've just added a little twist.

For the first card I used some Gesso as a resist with a stencil. There are a few You tube videos showing you how to do this I chose this one by Eileen Goodwin. The Gesso is sponged through the stencil in very thin layers, don't over apply as it will seep under the stencil. It's better to add less in layers as it dries.
Before I stenciled with the Gesso I created a frame with tape, then layered my Gesso. Once it dried I blended Distress inks over the Gesso'd area. The Gesso creates a resist and the colour can be wiped off with a damp paper towel. I replaced my stencil before doing this because I didn't want to remove any of the colour around the Gesso. The Gesso not only creates a resist and also a little dimension.
Once I was happy with how much colour had been removed I stamped my images an die cut it with an A2 die.

I also followed Eileen's geometric stenciling and layered stamping instructions on You tube to create the next two cards.
I used a scrap piece of acetate and lay it on the card stock using distress inks I picked up a little ink dabbing off the excess on a paper towel before I lightly brushed off the edge of the plastic.
I moved the sheet in different directions creating a geometrical pattern, I then lay another stencil over it and using blending brushes created the second layer. when I was happy with the background I stamped the leafy image and used pencils to lightly add a little colour.

Another more subtle layered stenciling and stamping

Your technique from Eileen Goodwin is very, very beautiful. Your soft touch with the distress inks and blending brushes makes such an ethereal background that perfectly shows off the Lavinia Stamps. Thank you for sharing!
