Treats on Tuesday with Christine - La gâterie du mardi avec Christine

Hi Everyone, it's Christine here with a salted paper bag as my substrate for the cards.

I  took a paper bag and cut it down to a little smaller than an A2 card.
I Gesso'd the central area leaving a little of the bag around the edge uncovered. Once it was dry I watercoloured the gesso and sprinkled salt all over it. When the watercolour was dry I brushed off the salt leaving these wonderful crystal shapes where the salt had been.

I then did a little background stamping and also stamped  the flower images using Versamark and heat
embossed with white embossing powder.

Whoa, what a fun background with gesso watercolor and salt. And on a paper bag yet. That is so unique, Christine. The embossed floral silhouette looks beautiful over it.

What a great mixed media background using a paper bag! Neat effect from the salt. And I love that delphinium stamp - one of my favourite flowers.

I've done the salt and watercolor technique, but I would never have thought about taking a used paper bag as my canvas. Very very clever, especially with today's emphasis on recycling. Thanks so much for sharing.

Love the artsy look of your paper bag cards Christine. It's so creative to use the paper bags as your canvas for these awesome salted watercolour designs.
