Hi Everyone, it's Christine here playing with some alcohol inks and this beautiful blossom crescent stamp.
My background is alcohol inks on Stone paper with a Vaseline resist.
Before I tell you how I made the card you may be wonder what Stone paper is. It's a manufactured paper made of Calcium Carbonate and High Density Polyethene. The paper is water resistant but a little more difficult to come by than Yupo (Polypropylene). It's considered more environmentally friendly with only a small amount of plastic and also doesn't use water in its manufacturing process. If you have the opportunity to buy some give it a try, it's amazing for Gelli printing and works in the same way as Yupo with Alcohol inks.
So onto the card. I used Vaseline as an alcohol ink resist following this YouTube video, the other tidbit we were given on the video is that Vaseline can be used as a sealer. People come up with the most amazing ideas. 😊
The Vaseline protects the surface under the stamp from the ink, the blending solution moves the ink around. Then the excess blending solution allows you to wipe off any excess inks and Vaseline leaving the image behind. I used the script and the dots on my background and some fairly dark inks. I then stamped the image of the crescent blossom on the Stone paper in Stazon (Black) and again on a piece of watercolour paper in Versafine Clair (Nocturn). I coloured the image, fussy cut it then lay it over the background stamped image. I used some yellow Viva Decor Paper pen for the centre of the flowers and clear for some water droplets on the petals and leaves.
