Hi everyone, Christine here with a 3D Boreal Owl on a Tag.
I first sprayed the tag with distress oxide sprays, heat setting the colours before the next one was added. I randomly stamped some images over the background then stamped the boreal owl on the tag. I used some crackle paste and a stencil to add some texture to the tag.
I stamped a second owl on a piece of card and fussy cut it out. Using a stylus out of the McGill paper shaping tool kit to give the owl a more 3D effect and popped it up on the tag with some double-sided sticky foam.
Here is how I made the owl-
I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the image, then outlined the edge using a black brush pen.
By going around the edge the image stands up when placed on the card.
I then used the smaller stylus and outlined the eyes, beak and branch from the stamped side.
When you turn the image over you can see where these areas are and go over them again from the reverse side. This makes the face have a 3D shape and the eyes beak and branch all stand out.

Brilliant step by step Christine, your owl sure does look like it's popping off the page being 3D. Love your colouring and stamps used x
Great instructions, Christine! Love the random stamping and the bit of crackle paste. Brilliant idea to use the stylus on the owl and give it some dimension.
This owl is amazing! I love the dimension and all the interest on the tag!
Love this awesome owl, Christine! Great mixed media tag!
Hideko xx
Amazing tag, Christine. Love all the texture from your crackle paste stenciling and the gorgoeous oxide colours with stamping over top. The owl does have so much dimension with your layered images with shaping. So cool!
