Hi everyone I have a mixed media card for you today.
I tore off some pieces of text paper and stuck them to the base card usingsome matt media. When it was dry I painted over the whole are with some watered down gesso so that the print on the paper would still show through. I stamped the background with a mix of stamps and then sprayed distress oxide sprays in blues and browns. I used white texture paste through the stencil randomly over the background. The texture paste pick up the colour from the base layer so it's not so it blends in with the background. I also rubbed pewter gilding wax over the stenciling. When my background was finished i stamped the bird on water colour paper coloured it with watercolour crayons and fussy cut the image. I went round the edge with a black pen to mask any of my bad fussy cutting.

This looks like it's made of metal, how cool! Fabulous card, Christine!
Your mixed media card is absolutely beautiful! I love how you combined various techniques, such as the torn text paper, gesso layer, and distress oxide sprays, to create such depth and texture. The bird stamped and colored with watercolor crayons adds such a delicate touch. The subtle blending of colors and the pewter gilding wax on the stencil work is a stunning detail that makes the design truly stand out.
Beautiful little bird - love the earthy colors too!
I love how this turned out! All the layers and details make it really special. The bird is so cute too. One of my goals for 2025 was to get into bird watching so I am happy I saw this haha! Some of my other goals are to drink more water, learn to knit, have my carpets professionally cleaned, and make my bed everyday. Wish me luck haha! Hope you are having a great start to your new year!
I missed this card somehow Christine, but it is beautiful with the very pretty bird and the texture paste over the background through the really lovely stencil, and with the extra stamping and background blue and brown as well as similar colours on the wonderful bird bring it all together. x
