Treats on Tuesday with Christine - La gâterie du mardi avec Christine

Hi it's Christine here with a couple of quick cards using this gorgeous wading egret stamp and distress oxide blended background.

There are so many distress oxide colours, I often struggle to decide what combination to use. Kristina Werner has a few on her blog, take a look at all the amazing colour combinations she put together.

For my first card I blended three colours of distress oxides (Black Soot, Hickory Smoke and Shaded Lilac) then stamped in Black Versafine Claire and then used clear embossing powder.

The wonderful thing about clear embossing powder is it doesn't show if some sticks to the surface of the card outside of the stamped image.

My second card again is blended distress oxides (Hickory Smoke, Shaded Lilac and Blue Print Sketch) and this time I used Versamark ink and white embossing powder.

Tip - the Distress oxides must be completely dry before you pour on the white embossing powder or you will get white powdery mess. Use your heat gun to dry and then use your anti static bag to ensure nothing sticks.  Before you stamp with Versamark test your blended surface by pouring embossing powder over it. If nothing sticks you are good to go, if it does repeat the heat dry and anti static bag. It's much easier to brush it off and if there's no embossing ink when the powder sticks to the blended background.

I love both versions of these cards! The dark silhouette and grayer shades make me think of it being nearly sunset. The white silhouette and brighter blues put me in mind of a sunny afternoon!
