Super Saturday with Pam – Super Samedis avec Pam

Welcome back to Super Saturday.  I love this stamp from Magenta’s last release.  The bird sitting in the water seems to be perfect for a “thinking of you” card.  This stamp is very versatile, too.  Christine recently used this stamp to create two beautiful cards – one with alcohol inks and another with Distress Oxide inks.  You can see her blog post here. 

Bienvenue à Super Samedi. J'aime cette étampe de la dernière collection de Magenta. L'oiseau assis dans l'eau semble être parfait pour une carte "penser à vous". Cette étampe est également très polyvalente. Christine a récemment utilisé celle-ci pour créer deux belles cartes - une avec des encres à base d'alcool et une autre avec des encres à base d'encres Distress Oxide. Vous pouvez voir son blog ici.

I began by stamping the bird on a piece of 4 ¼” x 5 ½” Dura-Lar (a clear plastic type material) using Jet Black Stazon ink.  Since I stamped on plastic, I let this dry overnight to be sure I didn’t smudge the image.  I positioned the stamp so I'd have enough room for a sentiment below (although it's stamped on the background paper.)

To create the background, I used Distress Stain daubers.  On a piece of watercolor paper, I applied Crushed Olive stain using a light back and forth motion on the paper.  Next I applied Salty Ocean stain, overlapping the Crushed Olive slightly.  I used the stamped image as a guide because I wanted the reeds in the image to be in the green area as it transitioned to the blue water.  I moved to Tumbled Glass for the sky and added just a touch of Wilted Violet.  When the piece of was very dry, I stamped the sentiment in black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder so it would stand out a bit.  

I trimmed the Dura-Lar piece and the watercolor piece to 3 ½” x 5 ½” inches, punched two holes in the top and tied them together with twine.  I adhered the panel to a piece of black cardstock.  I used the corresponding Distress Inks on the front of a white A2 card to extend the color from the watercolor panel.  The inks are a bit lighter and softer than the stains.

J'ai commencé par étamper l'oiseau sur un morceau de Dura-Lar de 4 ¼ ”x 5 ½” (un matériau de type plastique transparent) en utilisant de l'encre Jet Black Stazon. Puis je l'ai laissé sécher pendant la nuit pour être sûr de ne pas maculer l'image. J'ai placé l'étampe de manière à laisser assez de place pour un sentiment en dessous (même s'il est imprimé sur le papier de fond).

 Pour créer l'arrière-plan, j'ai utilisé des "Distress Stain Daubers". Sur un morceau de papier pour aquarelle, j'ai appliqué la teinture "Crushed Olive" à l'aide d'un léger mouvement de va-et-vient sur le papier. Ensuite, j'ai appliqué la teinture "Salty Ocean", chevauchant légèrement le "Crushed Olive" . J'ai utilisé l'image imprimée comme guide car je souhaitais que les roseaux de l'image se trouvent dans la zone verte lors de la transition vers l'eau bleue. Je suis passé à "Tumbled Glass" pour le ciel et ai ajouté une touche de "Wilted Violet". Quand le morceau fût très sec, j'ai imprimé le sentiment à l'encre noire et embossé avec de la poudre à embosser transparente afin qu'il se détache un peu. 

J'ai coupé la pièce de Dura-Lar et la pièce d'aquarelle à 3 ½ ”x 5 ½”, percé deux trous dans le haut et les ai attachés avec de la ficelle. J'ai collé le panneau sur un morceau de papier cartonné noir. J'ai utilisé les encres Distress correspondantes sur le devant d'une carte A2 blanche pour étendre la couleur à partir du panneau aquarelle.
