Treats on Tuesday with Christine - La gâterie du mardi avec Christine

Hi Everyone it's Christine here with a little stenciling and pencil colouring.

My background was created with Nuance powders mixed with water and sprayed on hot press watercolour paper. I stenciled my background first in white and then nudged the stencil over a few millimeters and used a blue Distress Oxide ink. By nudging the stencil a little it creates a pretty shadow effect. I then stamped the script in a very light ink randomly over the background. The Icelandic poppy was stamped in Versafine Claire using a stamp positioner and heat set to dry it. I used pencils to colour the image, oil based pencils will colour over the stencil background without it showing through. Once I finished colouring I place the image back in my stamp positioner and re stamped the flower to make the outline stand out.

That's wonderful that you were able to colour over the stencilling with your pencils. Beautiful contrast between the colours of the flower and the colours of the background.

Always learn so much from you Christine. What a fabulous idea to create a shadow for your stencil. It adds so much to the background. Your flowers are GORGEOUS! Amazing colouring skills! Have not tried oil based pencils ... another new thing for me! :)
